Thank you for choosing to adopt!

Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society is a non-profit organization that depends on donations from the public. Most of the animals living at the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society’s adoption center were rescued from municipal shelters or were surrendered by their owners who could no longer keep them.

We strive to keep or animal guests socialized, well mannered and stimulated during their stay. Staff and volunteers spend hours each day with the animals to achieve this goal.

Adoptable Dogs
Our dogs get the best of care. They are walked three or more times a day for exercise and to reinforce or introduce house training. Specially trained staff and volunteers spend time handling, grooming, and playing with each dog. In addition, our dogs begin to receive lessons in basic manners from trained staff and volunteers.

Adoptable Cats
Cats are socialized by volunteer "cat cuddlers", receiving gentle grooming, interactive play, and, of course - cuddling. Cats are provided with a variety of toys for their amusement. Many roam cage-free in "Catopias" where they can interact with 2-3 other felines in a cat paradise outfitted with scratching posts, kitty playthings, hiding places, and high places.
