Promoting the humane treatment of all animals is at the heart of our mission at the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society. Humane education achieves this, but it also teaches much, much more. By teaching children empathy and respect towards animals, they also learn empathy and respect for each other, as well as self-respect. They begin to understand and appreciate their community and the world around them through a values-based approach to life. We believe this empowers children to grow up into responsible and caring adults who want to make the world a better place.
Humane Education Programs
We currently offer a variety of humane education programs to the community. Check back often, as we are constantly striving to add more educational and fun programs. We offer a variety of Volunteer Opportunties for children aged 10-15 with a parent or guardian and for ages 16 and up without a guardian. Service learning projects are also available to motivated students or groups. For more information on service learning projects, please email education@berkeleyhumane.org.

We are always delighted to provide tours of the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society. We consider ourselves much more than just a shelter and we'd love to show you why.
